Grant is three months old

As you can see by the video, Grant is getting so big and showing his personality more and more every day. We love hearing him talk. It is amazing watching this little person find his voice and unfortuately his thumb. Yes, Grant has been sucking his thumb!!! I have woken up in the middle of the night over the past week to the sound of sucking instead of crying to let me know that he is hungry. If anyone has any suggestions on how to get him to stop, please let me know. Grant is three months old now and weighs about 17lbs. At this rate, he is going to grow out of his car seat in the next two to three months.

We are going to Scotti and Clay's annual Halloween party this Saturday. Grant looks so cute in his costume. He is a sweet, little dragon. I am trying to talk Tim into being a my Knight in Shining Armour, and I would be his Princess. At this point, I have been unable to convince him. Last year, Tim was a Mummy and won the top prize as Scotti's party. Hopefully, we will get some good pictures of Grant to post.

Grant, Mimi, & the Razorbacks

We had a great time this weekend. Mimi (my mom) came up for a visit this weekend. We shopped and ran around on Saturday. Tim & I had our first night out since Grant came. We went to dinner and to a birthday party for our friends Leslie & Sherry. It was nice to get out, but it was also awesome to get back home and hold our sweet boy. Tim & I were arguing over who got to hold him first. . . Daddy won this time.

We were rooting hard for our Hogs this weekend, but they were not able to keep it together in the end. We already have Grant calling the Hogs and singing the fight song--well, not really, but we are trying to teach him early.

Mr. Big is very big!!!

We went to the Doctor this week for Grant's two month check-up. He weighs 14 pounds and 10 ounces and is 24 and 1/2 inches long. That puts him in the 95th percentile for growth in both height and weight. If you have not seen him in person then you will be amazed when you do as he just does not look like a typical two month old.

Grant is smiling and cooing all the time. It is amazing how quickly he is growing & changing, and how fast time has flown by. I will be returning to work on Monday for half days and full time the following week. I am ready and not ready at the same time. I have only been away from Grant twice since he was born, so I know that Monday is going to be difficult. I am confident that he will benefit greatly by going to school and being around other kids. I told him that I would try not to embarrass him too badly on Monday. Wish me luck. . .

Mr. Big is Four Weeks Old!

We have lots of nicknames for Grant--they change every week as he does something new and different. The first week we had him home we called him The Oned Bandit since it seemed he would open his right eye look around to see if anyone was watching him and if we were he would immediate close it and go back to "sleeping." The second week we called him Wiggle Worm which is pretty self explanatory. The third week, we started calling him Triple H for Hungry, Hungry Hippo--after we went to the doctor he had put on a lot of weight and wanted to eat all of the time. Sometimes during the day, he would want to eat about every hour which is sometimes known as cluster feeding. We are estimating that he now weighs over 10lbs. Now, we are referring to him as Mr. Big or Big for short. No matter what the name, he is the sweetest little boy I have ever seen. Tim and I are totally in love with him. We are lucky to have him!

Time is already flying by!

I cannot believe it, but tomorrow Grant Alderson will be three weeks old! He is growing and filling out so much. We went to the doctor this week for his check up, and Dr. Froman said Grant looked perfect in every way which made Mom and Dad feel good. He weighed 8lbs and 9oz which was awesome, but not surprising since Grant has quite an appetite. His umblicial cord fell off on Tuesday, but we cannot tell if he is going to have an innie or outie yet. He is sleeping pretty well at night. He sleeps about two to three hours between feedings, so I am having to get use to the new sleeping schedule. Tim is such a good daddy! Tim has been amazing about making sure that I am getting sleep during the evening and early in the morning when Grant is ready to play. They are big snuggle buddies. It is no surprise, but Grant already has Tim wrapped around his little pinkie.

I will try to do better about posting pics and comments, but I have been a little busy the last two weeks trying to keep up with Grant. Enjoy the new photos.

He is here!

Well, we didn't have to wait the full four weeks. Our precious baby boy, Grant Walker Alderson, made his arrival on Saturday, July 26th, 2008 at 10:37 pm. It all started as a normal Saturday morning, Tim & I were going to breakfast, to pick up the crib and dresser for Grant's room, and to finish getting all the necessities for my hospital bag. While sitting at breakfast, my water broke. Since it was not the big gush that you always see on TV, I was not absolutely positive that is was my water. So we ran home to grab a few things just in case, and headed to the hospital. The nurse checked me and sure enough my water had broken. The unfortunate part was that I was only dilated to a 1 cm and 0% effaced. Dr. Emily Hinton was the doctor on call at Willow Creek for the weekend, so she came in to talk to Tim & I to let us know that we would have our baby boy in the next 24 hours. I was admitted to the hospital and given pitocin to start the dilation process, but after 9 hours I had only progressed to a 1.5 cm. At that point, we talked with Dr. Hinton and decided we would like to deliver via C-section. About 45 minutes later, we had our baby boy! I hope you enjoy the photos!

Four Weeks and Counting Down!!!

Welcome to my first blog post! We are a little under four weeks away from Grant's arrival. The good news is our crib is expected to arrive next week--thank goodness since we ordered it about 15 weeks ago. Apparently, it was coming from Indonesia during the raining season which is what was supposedly causing the delay, so Grant will have a bed to sleep in. Yea!!! Tim did an awesome job painting Grant's room and installing crown molding. I will post a picture of his room once we get the furniture here and put together.

I wanted to share a pic of Tim & I in all of my pregnant glory. Enjoy! We look forward to posting some great pictures of Grant when he gets here.
